About KhataVai
Several products already let a Bangladeshi shop ring up a sale on a phone. That was never the hard part. The hard part is what happens when the owner isn't standing behind the counter — which, for almost every small and medium retail business here, is most of the day.
KhataVai started from a simple observation: owners who don't trust the data their software shows them won't keep paying to see it. Cash that doesn't reconcile, stock that quietly shrinks, discounts that under-ring a sale, returns processed with no product coming back — these aren't edge cases, they're the default failure mode of running a shop through hired staff without a system built to make honesty the easy path.
So instead of building "just another POS" and bolting on an audit log later, we built the trust layer first. Every action in KhataVai — a sale, a discount, a stock adjustment, a void — is attributed to a real, OTP-verified person and device, logged in a way that can't be silently edited or deleted, and surfaced to the owner the moment it happens, not buried in a report they have to remember to open.
Underneath that, KhataVai is still a complete, offline-first point-of-sale, inventory, purchasing, and basic accounting platform — bilingual in Bangla and English, priced and built for shops with one counter today and ten branches tomorrow. We think that's the only order that makes sense: earn the trust, then everything else the software does is worth something.
We're a small team building for Bangladesh's super shops, electronics and mobile retailers, fashion houses, pharmacies, restaurants, and wholesalers — anyone running a business through people they can't watch every hour of the day.
